Back to School!

Summer is coming to a close, but that means the beginning of another exciting year at Leeds. We hope everyone’s summer endeavors have or are ending nicely and that you’re ready to get back into academic mode. We have some exciting events on the horizon already and want you to get them on your calendar and help get the word to the class of ’14.

GEA Kick-Off!
When: TBD, but most likely September 12th

Where: Somewhere in Koelbel
A great group of people and a delicious lunch will help us start the year-off on the right note. Come hear all about the great events we have planned and meet some of the first-years heading down the entrepreneurial path.

In the more immediate, there are some cool events going on in the next two weeks as well.

Co-Founder Meet-Up
When: 6:30 pm, Thursday, August 23rd
Where: 1050 Walnut Street, Suite 202 presents a gathering to help entrepreneurs find co-founders for their businesses and ideas. Over 80 people have already RSVP-ed to attend! RSVP and learn more here:

Boulder Open Coffee
When: 8:30 am, Tuesday, August 28th
Where: Atlas Purveyors, 1505 Pearl Street
An informal weekly meet-up for Boulder-area entrepreneurs.

Start-Up CU: Monthly Meet-Up
When: 6 pm, Wednesday, August 29th
Where: TBD
Start-Up CU is a cross-campus entrepreneurial organization bringing together people from varying backgrounds, most notably the on-campus business and tech communities.

Boulder Beta

Boulder’s premiere quarterly start-up mixer where new companies showcase their goods. The best place to see what’s happening in this vibrant community.

GEA Retreat

We’re working hard to plan a great retreat this year. We reserved the Red Lion for the event and we already have some great speakers lined up. Mark your calendars for Sept. 26th at 9am through about 5pm.


The next meeting with be on Aug. 22nd from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm (location TBD).

Colorado Cleanweb Meetup

This is a new meetup started by a fellow alum and co-founder of Greenlite Labs, Matt Reisman. The CO Cleanweb meetup is a place for individuals interested in leveraging web, mobile and information technologies to drive environmental sustainability.

Cleanweb provides opportunities for innovations in services and products as well as in business models. The application of existing technical models from other industries to sustainability issues provides an opportunity for new business models to be built that address complex ecological issues where the limits of traditional clean technologies are already being felt.

Startup Weekend EDU

Oct 5th-7th 2012

Startup Weekend EDU is a 54-hour experience that fosters teams to build a minimally viable product to benefit Education at any level (K-12, highered, professional development). Business students, educators, computer science professionals, IT designers, and entrepreneurs pitch ideas Friday night, coalesce into teams, and then collaboratively iterate through a concept to refine it throughout the weekend. While some teams have a refined concept by the end of the weekend, others build a simple web or mobile application by the demo deadline, when all teams pitch to a panel of judges. Prizes are awarded for first and second place.
